The Middelburg Center for Transatlantic Studies hosts a biennial conference on transatlantic studies as part of its commitment to the development, research and multidisciplinary discussion of the transatlantic characteristics of literature, sociology, history, political science, journalism, cultural studies, and others.  The Fourth Biennial Conference on Transatlantic Studies was held in 2006, but due to the move from Maastricht to Middelburg in 2008, the fifth biennial conference has been postponed until October of 2010, so that the MCTS has time to settle into its new home.

Conferences are held on the campus of the Roosevelt Academy in the city of Middelburg, Zeeland, the Netherlands.  A calls for papers are issued once each conference's theme has been established. The lingua franca of the conferences is English.

Proposals will need to be using the "Submit a Proposal" link on the left-hand menu of this page. Each submission should include a 500-word proposal of the paper that is to be considered for presentation and a 200-word biographical sketch of the author(s), along with other relevant information requested on submission form.

Along with presentation of accepted papers, the conference will feature speakers representing the American and continental European views of the conference theme.
